Post 112: Music Fills My Soul

Have you ever had those days where you just want everything to stop? No noise or people around to bother you? To just have time to hear yourself think? I know I do. I have those most days. In order to find some kind of solace, I usually find myself turning to music as an escape from everything surrounding me. The genre usually varies depending on my mood, but I do have an ever changing playlist I've made on YouTube that contains at least 50% of covers from musical Youtubers.

Sometimes it's the lyrics of a song that helps so I'll gravitate toward acapella or just the music and I'll listen to Youtubers like The Piano Guys. Music is just one thing that could help me find the calm I need to get through most rough days. A soft, fuzzy, comfortable blanket or throw will help, as well as my dog sitting or laying beside me, offering silent support.

I've always loved music and it took me years of denial to admit that while I might love music, I'm really not musically inclined, vocally or practically. When I got over the fact that I couldn't sing or play an instrument, I turned to writing. Mostly for myself, I still don't think I could handle criticism, constructive or otherwise. Still, when writing, it's easier to have music playing in the background as it tends to inspire what to write next. That's probably the reason I decided to blog, music and writing, two of my favorite things.

Post 111: Picking Pretty Flowers

Flowers, they bloom and wilt each year, are given in times of happiness and sadness, they can bring a smile to ones face and a blush to cheeks. In the past I've hated receiving flowers because they live for a few days and then wilt and dry. I saw them as a symbol of dead and decay instead of enjoying what they were. Each one is completely different from the one next to it and I don't think you'll ever find two that are exactly identical.

If I had to choose my favorite, it would be plumerias. I grew up seeing them just as much, if not more, than hibiscus flowers, and I love them. They are simple looking flowers, with only a few color combinations, but their simplicity is what I find endearing and I could stare at them for hours. I haven't seen any in Michigan so I do miss them. Even without them, receiving a bouquet from my real life love is still special to me. To see him walk through the door holding them smiling and then saying "I got you some flowers because I felt like it" makes me smile and feel like the luckiest girl in the world.

I appreciate those flowers because they were given to me "just because" so I make sure that I take the time to trim the stems and set them in some water in a pretty vase. When I pass by them it always warms my heart to know that someone loves me. That is why I no longer hate receiving flowers. Someone has shown me that they are a symbol of love.

Post 110: Family

To most people, family is the most important thing in their lives, whether or not that family is related by blood. They are people that you trust and can talk to about anything, no matter what it is. They will support you in your endeavors and tell you their opinion even if it does not match your own. They will be there when it matters the most to you.

Some people, like myself, are closer to their Second Life families and friends than their real life ones. The reasons vary, but I consider myself absolutely lucky to be with my SL family I have now after years of going through others that didn't work out. They took a chance on me and I'm grateful for that. I really appreciate them being there and making me feel like a true part of them. I don't even know how to thank them properly other than be there for them when they need someone to lean on or talk to or just be with. I hope they all know that they hold a special place in my heart. I am their sweet boogie tater and they are my wonderful potato family.

Post 109: Into the Night

Night time, when the sky is dark and the stars are out. To be standing in the middle of a field at night, with only the faint glow of city lights in the distance, on a cloudless night it seems as if you could just reach out your hand and pluck stars from the sky. It's beautiful and mesmerizing and I've often wondered if there was someone out there, on another world perhaps, doing the exact same thing I was doing. Just staring up at a seemingly endless universe...it captivates me.

I know, I know...Thanksgiving hasn't happened for the United States yet and I'm already doing Christmassy things. I can't help it! I get excited to decorate for Christmas in SecondLife and Real Life, it makes me warm and fuzzy inside and I love making things pretty with Christmas colors and decorations. That is the reason I decided to take the photos for this special blog post at Christmas Lane (link for location below), it's a beautifully decorated sim where you can also do some shopping! Anyway, on to the reason for this blog post!

In the spirit of Thanksgiving and Christmas, I'm having a small giveaway! Yay! It's really more of a raffle.
